VILLAGE OFF-FRAME is an essay film built around a series of photographs taken by the director in his native village in South Lebanon between 2008 and 2018. Rather than documenting the village, the images expose their own limits as documents, and in doing so trigger the director’s memories. Through a close reading of this archive, the film unfolds the director’s recollections of the village and reflects on the spatial and temporal distance that now separates him from it.
